FTB Quick Mortgage Question

Hi folks
Hoping you can help me with a quick query.
Looking to buy my first property this year so went to see my bank (RBS) at the end of October and after an hour or so walked out with a mortgage approvement in principle.
I've since read Martin's Mortgage Guide and now think I'd be best speaking to e.g. London & Country (or get around to researching brokers in this area who are fee-free & whole-of-market - obviously RBS only offered me their mortgages...) before I fully commit.
Anyway question is: is there anything to stop me speaking and 'sorting out ' a mortgage with L&C? I don't believe so but would love it if someone could confirm this before I wade in.
cheers all
