Hi, I am doing a car boot on sunday- its my first one so just wondered what kind of things sell well?
So far I have alot of clothes(mainly childrens, some adults), some toys, some camping chairs and a few odds and sods.
Whatever I make needs to feed a family of 4 until the end of August so need to make a good deal of money!!

Naomi,
It really is anyones guess as to what sells well. If it is your first one I would prepare yourself for sellings lots of things for buttons!! Might be worth boxing the clothes up into prices and putting 50p, £1, £1.50 stickers on the fronts of the boxes.
Also some other advice, make sure you do not turn your back on your table, even when unloading, if you are doing it with another adult you need to get one of you to stand facing 'out' and the other unloading the car.
Good luck with it though, I am sure you will have a great day, its certainly an eye opener!!!

This'll prob get moved to the car boot thread but here goes-
Clothes-but don't expect to get ebay prices-50p-£1. I sold loads of t shirts (mens) for 50p each last time.
Apparently baby stuff goes very well.
Bedding can do well.
Tools and electricals do well (which surprised me as people can't test them)
Furniture.
I have always found it hard to shift: soft toys, books.
You never really know though-I've had people buy some really funny things though so my motto is if you can get it in the car - sell it. Pile it high. There is nothing worse than just havung a little bit to sell. Expect to take lots home even if you seem to sell lots!Since starting again after beanie: June 2016: Child development DVDs, Massive Attack tickets. July: Aberystwyth trip, hotmilk nightie. Aug: £10 Hipp Organic vouchers, powerpack. September: Sunglasses. October: £30 poundland vouchers.0 -
Hi. We've done a few and look to make on average about £100 per boot sale.
Firstly, make sure everything is clean. If items are not clean, people will not touch them, never mind buy them. Price things up beforehand and put little stickers on each, but be prepared to haggle. Better to get 50p for something priced at £2 than take it home and put back in the shed.
Clothing - if possible beg, borrow or steal a hanging rail and coathangers and put the stuff on there rather than pile it up on the floor or a table. Always use a tablecloth on your table.
Kiddies toys sell well, as do garden tools and anything to do with cars and caravans/camping. Items like phones sell well, as do small items of furniture. Having said that, I once took a wardrobe to a boot sale as I had borrowed a trailer for something else and got a tenner for it as long as I delivered it as well, but I got cash up front. I even sold my ex-mother in law's Kirby vacuum cleaner at a boot sale for £100.
Pottery and glassware can sell well as long as its not chipped or cracked. Also mirrors, paintings, etc.
Make sure you get there at the start. It's no good turning up two hours after everybody else. You'll have people looking at your stuff as you unload from the car - keep them away as best you can without upsetting them.
Good luck, and let us know how you got on."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -
Records(esp lps), cds, dvds, clothes.
Have to be in good condition and dont ask too much. Most people wont wanna pay over a pound for anything.0
