Hi,
This is a desperate plea for some borax in the West Midlands - can anyone help?

I've recently started a business to up my income which is going pretty well - doing science sessions in Summer camps for kids all over the country. It's gone brilliantly so far but I have a big problem - the borax I have ordered over the internet hasn't turned up (I'm making slime!) and every shop I have been to (trust me I have been to LOADS!) has none. I'm getting desperate as I need it for tomorrow night (I leave 5am Thursday for 2 days work in Norfolk).

Does anyone have any that they could sell to me? I know people might be worried about the whole meeting up thing, but what if you put some on ebay and let me know and I bought it over there? I have a 100% positive feedback and am linked through Paypal so am easily traceable, so unlikely to be dodgy in any way.

Please can someone help? I'll quite happily pay £10 for a box, even if it's half empty!!

Anna

Borax isn't being manufactured any longer which is why you can't find any. It's all "borax substitute" now

Thanks, but it does seem quite easy to find on the internet? Why did they discontinue manufacture? Was it due to H&S?

You can buy original borax on ebay under its chemical name...hold on while I check... :D
    sodium tetraborate.
I buy it from some of the chemical suppliers on there and have had no problem with any of them, quick delivery and good quality product. (I use it in taxidermy but it has to be the real thing)

I'd even drive further afield than the West Mids...

Just a suggestion and trying to think outside the box - borax is sold in cones and paste for soldering and making jewellery. Perhaps a trip to Wickes or a plumbers merchant. There's also Cousins in Essex that may help you. Perhaps ring them on the way to Norfolk?
Hope that helps - let us know how you do...

Or ring round a few places in the jewellery quarter in Brum?
