Loan with chequebook?
I used to have a Marks & Spencer Personal Reserve account where they gave you a chequebook so you only borrowed what you actually needed. Do any banks still offer this?
I need it to pay some hefty bills whilst probate is sorted after the death of my father. As I am not sure how long this will take. It shouldn't take too long as the will is straightforward.

Co-Op has a Flexible Loan which offer cheque book. The APR is 13.9 which is much better than M&S 18.9&.

The other thing is to get a flexible loan from someone like Egg that you can draw down and then repay as and when. Open a high interest savings account or ISA and the difference between the rate on the loan and the savings shouldn't be too great?
Rates are likely to be a lot lower as long as your credit rating is good.
Other thing is to arrange an overdraft, but fees are likely to be expensive when spread over a short period.
Good luck.
