Van Man's failure to deliver!

Hi
I hope I posted this in the right place.
Long story short - I bought a conservatory from ebay, and needed it collected & delivered. I found a Van Man company - also from ebay - that could do the job. They had been around for a few years, and had good feedback on their ebay account, so I gave them the job.
Other than the usual, collection & delivery being a little delayed, everything went well, and the conservatory was delivered to my house in the evening (it was arranged for the morning).
The conservatory seller, advised me that he had the keys to the doors/windows in an envelope. I came home from work just after conservatory was delivered & phoned the van man, as I couldn't find the keys. He later phoned back to say they were still in the truck & must have fallen out of one of the bags.
Since then (2+ weeks) he has made numerous promises of delivering the keys, but has never turned up. He is now not even answering his phone! I have messages from him stating he has the keys as proof (if I needed it).
Is it worth me changing the locks & sending a solicitors letter billing him for the costs?
Or is there an easier way anyone can suggest?
I hope I posted this in the right place.

I suggest just change locks and move on.
Why waste more time and money on letters.0 -
if they're local, nip round to collect them.. or ask them to pop them in the post, or just change the locks.
Solicitor letters is a bit extreme because somebody hasn't dropped some keys off.0 -

Yes you could do that, but in reality is it worth it? If he doesn't pay and you have to go to court it still doesn't mean you'll get paid. Look on ebay probably a used lock and key set going cheap.
I know it must be annoying but the cost vs hassle has to be worth it IMO and the hassle would far outweigh the cost if you even managed to get payment.
Did you buy the service through ebay or was it a classified ad?? If you can leave feedback or open a dispute then use that facility.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0
