I got into financial difficulties as the result of running up a bank overdraft, maximising two credit cards and obtaining a personal loan.

The bank may have granted you an overdraft. The bank might have given you a couple of credit cards. The bank did not do so in the belief that you would then spend up to your overdraft limit and max out both your cards. Had they known that was your intention they wouldn't have extended you the credit in the first forkin place.

  • Many thanks for all the comments and helpful advice to me on this subject. I had already realised the error of my ways and will 'pay the price ' for a very long time. However there are times in ones life when very silly decisions are taken and decisions made and hopefully we learn from this.

You aren't the first person to get into debt like this and you won't be the last. Why not go over to the Debt Free Wannabee section of the boards and see what advice they can offer about cost-cutting.

im sure some of the loans/cards were spent on your wife.... if not what the hell did you spend the money on..

and also there is a thing called DPA.....

hubbys/wifes will have secret cards/loans/bank accounts... for various reasons ie secret lovechild etc....

its up to us as humans to be honest to out partners, not up to the bank to shackle us and force us to tell all.

your wife should give you a good kick in the nads to be honest
Promo codes are never always cheaper..... isnt that right EuropCar?
  • Thanks Ihate eyes..........she has!
  • thanks Barbara
  • Surely it is wrong that I could get a personal loan, a second personal credit card and commit our joint account to the burden of repayments and the ensuing overdraft without ,as far as the banks were concerned, informing my wife....in other words advising me to discuss it before committing myself.

You are right it is wrong...

However it isn't the bank that is in the wrong it is you. Stop blaming others for your wanton stupidity and deal with it.

You need to grow up and take responsibility - and there I was thinking the older generation knew better - it appears that the l'oreal generation (I want it now because I'M WORTH IT) has no age barrier to membership
