Edinburgh Wedding Bands

Can anyone recommend a good wedding band in Edinburgh?
We found several on this site but the problem is I cannot find any reviews at all for the bands. http://www.musicforscotland.co.uk/
I get the feeling the bands probably have a number of names- ie, for each agency they are with, because none of them seem to have their own personal websites, fansites or facebook pages.

Are you close to Edinburgh now? Do you have a reasonable bit of time before the wedding? If yes to those I'd suggest getting out to local music venues and seeing what bands are out and about. You'll get to hear them first hand and can ask them directly if they do weddings...you'll save a bomb if you don't have to go through an agency. Agency doesn't guarantee a better band - it doesn't guarantee more expense!
Here's one site you can try for starters, or just google live music venues in the area and see what you can see. You'll find that these sort of bands will usually have FB or MySpace sites with demos of their stuff0 -
Watch yourself with the prices because Edinburgh wedding bands ram it up severely when it comes to a wedding. They charge three or four times their club rate.0

Everything ramps prices up for a wedding! Maybe just say party lol. The trouble is though that for a normal club gig a band will usually show up an hour or so before to set up and sound check. For a wedding it's sometimes the case that they need to arrive at different times to suit what else is going on eg get there a couple of hours earlier and do all the soundchecking before people arrive. So though they may only play for say 3 hours they may be hanging around for an extra 3 hours so as not to disturb the wedding party. And usually for a club they'll pretty much play a set list - for a wedding function they're often asked to cater for specifics like first dance etc and sometimes to be able/willing to take requests during the night. When my OH has done band jobs at a private function he's always gone far far longer than any regular club do and sometimes for peanuts by the time you work out the hourly rate split between 4-5 guys.0

The remit is actually very specific. OP asked for a "wedding band". Most of us know immediately what that covers. It's an industry standard term.0 -
perhaps try contacting any unis or colleges as sometimes they have DJ or musicians Like Ops have said whsat type of music do you like?:kisses3: Married 29th September 2012

To be honest, if you want a good band at good prices you should contact one of the bigger agencies like Emkay on 01506 855555. If you want to pay top dollar but get a topline service for audition CD's etc then you should contact TMC on 0131 448 0111 who (amongst other things) are a superb wedding band agency.
Remember - general agency, good prices, good bands. Wedding band agency, higher prices better audition service.
Don't take a chance on booking a band yourself. Without a contract you are on dodgy territory. Get the protection of an agency to safeguard your wedding day. That's what they're for.0 -

Actually in Scotland that's not the case. Usually wedding bands are ceilidh bands but it could also be a covers band. I'm from Edinburgh and have already done research for my own wedding which is why I asked. No need to jump all over me.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0 -

I'm sorry you feel I have jumped all over you. That wasn't my intent and I apologise if my choice of words made you feel that way.
Ceilidh bands are specific. When asking for a "wedding band" in Scotland one expects to get a good covers band playing all the popular hits from through the years, current hits, and the dreaded "Scottish Selection" of ceilidh and Scottish Country dance tunes which everyone will recognise and which will last for 20-30 minutes.
If one wants a ceilidh band one asks for a ceilidh band for a wedding. If one wants a wedding band one asks for a wedding band. You may specify that they must do a Scottish Selection and that will go on the contract.0
