this would have been great for me as im just courting a new mrs and im still a cheapo. What better way to take her out aye?
and i didnt mean to make nursing sound like a rubbish proffesion it really isnt. My mom takes great pride in her job and i dont think she works everyday now come to think of it. I know her friends are on more than her, but they do more hours for sure. It makes me proud that she's my mother when i see her in her scrubs, knowing she worked hard for 4-5 years from college upwards at 40....by the time your qualified the country might be in a better condition (hopefully...unless the BNP have any more to say on the matter, flippin rioters).8k/13k for 2013!0 -
Hi Mummyofboys
I hope you're feeling a little bit more positive.
I know exactly how you're feeling. However, you are about to embark on a new journey, 2 years isn't a long time to study. If you really scrimp, get your head down and work hard and get a good grade and focus on a specialist subject you could come out in a much much much better position than you are in now. A DMP might be a good idea if you know you can't afford everything. It will only affect you for 7 years and that gives you breathing space and the ability to save for a deposit for a house 5 years after you leave uni.
I wanted to be a nurse. I still do. I want to specialise in sexual health which has an excellent wage but right now it's a pipe dream. I want to be debt free first, I don't have long to wait, maybe 2 years but I am currently in a position where I can live reasonably comfortably and pay my creditors. I'm 22 so time is on my side. Maybe I'll go and do it when I am 25.... Maybe...
Just want to say go for it. You only get one chance in life and grasp everything with two hands. Stay positive and things will go your way, especially if you keep your head out of the sand and keep honest with yourself
Love and hugs

hope you are feeling brighter this morning.
Have you considered investing in re usable nappies. they can be purchased 'pre loved' from various sites and for one child you can survive with 10-12 (with a wash everyday).
I have 2 in nappies and instead of a whopping £100 bill a month i spend 2.95 on a pack of nappy liners from boots.Only the Mortgage to go!!!0 -

Absolutely agree with this. I also had 2 in nappies (many moons ago) but definitely cheaper than disposables. Only time I used disposables was if we visited parents over a weekend or had a holiday, but not very often!

Hi There
I have a suggestion that might help you to feel better about your appearance. I don't know whether there is something similar near you, but my last layer haircut was at a walk-in barbers. They are technically for gents but happy to do basic ladies cuts (they don't wet your hair or faff about with colours, etc). It cost £4 :money:and took less than 5 minutes - looks fine!Worth trying to find somewhere similar if you can. For those reading this who live near Shipley, West Yorkshire - it is near ASDA!
You seem to be struggling for clothes particularly. I know it sounds old-fashioned, but it is surprising what you can find now and again at M&S - at least a few new T shirts should cheer you up, and they are really cheap 2 for £12. The supermarkets with clothes sell off regularly and I have loads of things that I picked up for far less than the original cost - skirts for £6, tights for 50p!
If you really cannot justify getting new stuff, how about finding a friend the same size and doing a deal with her? It sounds weird, but she might have the odd piece that she regrets buying but that you will love to bits. What's a few hand-me-downs between real friends?
As to the travel worries. Are there likely to be other trainees on your placements? Could you car-share, or find out if someone who works on the right shifts and could pick you up? If you are paying them even a small amount they will probably be glad of it, and it would be less than using your car too much.
My car costs £30 a YEAR to tax, because of the engine size and emissions, and can do 600 miles and more (in summer - 500+ in heavy winter weather) on £64 of diesel. Yours seems v. expensive, and as you say you tax every six months it will be costing you a lot more than for a year. Is there any way you could try that? It might look expensive in one go given all your outgoings, but any savings are positive. If you can, you might try to find another car that is less expensive to tax and fuel. Mine's a Renault Clio 1.5 diesel 2002, which might help you look into alternatives. I would say though that unless your Dad can help you out again you are probably better off looking into reducing your mileage somehow for now.
I have Virgin Media for my cable TV (free channels only), telephone and internet. It is way less than £100 a month and I can still get Eurosport and Eurosport 2, which my boyfriend loves, and plenty of kiddies channels for your boys. It has the facility to watch programmes you missed, which is great. I cannot remember the exact cost off the top of my head, but I'm sure you could save at least £35 a month right there.
Best of luck! You seem to be in a gloom, and if I lived nearer I would try to do something more, but look forward to your qualifying day. You are doing the right thing in improving yourself at college, however daunting it is at the moment.
