CapQuest default on settled account.

Hello people, not sure if i'm posting in the right section, just wanna let everyone know I signed up to try and get a Default removed added on my Credit file by Capquest.
I paid this debt off in full last month and it has been marked 'Settled' on Equifax but I have noticed that it says default in Sept 2010.
I called them today and tried to spout some of the things I had read on here with regards to not receiving a default notice.
They told me to put it in writing.
I moved out of my previous address on 29th July 2010 and I was told today that Shop Direct had actually sent a default notice to me on '13th September 2010' to that same address and that it was been passed to Capquest for recovery.
This means that i did not receive this letter. Is there any way I can have this removed due to this situation?
I am trying to obtain a mortgage with my fiancee in the next few months so would really like to get rid of this.
Cheers

Did you use a post redirection facility to your new address
If you didnt, you can hardly blame anyone else for not getting the default notice.
Write to them by all means but dont hold your breathmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

No i didn't have a redirection service. I spoke to Capquest today and they didn't even have a record of this debt at my old address, they only have my new address on file and i have received correspondence here. I was told that the default was sent out in Sept when i moved in July. I have just checked letters and had one from them asking to set up a direct debit in march this year.
This is stressing me out so much as my financial advisor said the settled default would pretty much guarantee that we would be knocked back for a mortgage.
If I made a token gesture of payment to CapQuest, is there any chance they might remove it for me?0 -
I honestly can't see any reason why they would remove it.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

When they got your new address, they would have deleted your old address, presumably long after Sept. Presumably you contacted
them at some point to give them your new address.
Sorry, it looks as if your stuck with it for 6 years.
Mortgage - you'll have to find a broker who deals with things like this but seeing as its so recent its not looking goodmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

For them to remove the default, after all they are one of the most crooked dca's out there0

Even if the default was removed, you would still have a poor status for the account which wont help a mortgage. How did you tell shop direct you had moved?Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

How would i still have a bad status on the account???? Thats the whole point of me trying to get the default removed, it is already settled and there is no other adverse credit on there.0

Default exists for a reason and that being that the agreement with the creditor was not kept. I have 5-6 and the majority are satisfied and 2 are in the process of being satisfied.
Credit History is exactly that its the history of how you managed your accounts, if we could bribe our way to having negative information removed off file then the whole thing would be a farce.0 -

If you had grounds to have the default removed, then there would arguably be grounds for removing any other adverse payment history on the account associated with it.
It doesn't appear that you have any grounds though.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
