Santander loan and a £299 fee
Hi
My other half has just completed a car loan with Santander and has been charged a £299 completion fee (I didn't read the documents at the beginning) - on top of the interest rate. it all sounds a bit strange to me! Frustratingly, his cambelt went on the car yesterday today so this charge has been a bolt out of the blue. Sorry i don't have full details right now, but anyone come across this? I dont think it is the last paymentm, because they were around £100 per month.

Lenders add on all sorts of 'fees' these days so as to keep the headline repayments look as low as possible. Always read the small print.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0

it is normal at the start and end of the agreement that are higher, the first been setup fees, the last been the processing and removal from hpi registerDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Sounds like what used to be known as the 'Option to Purchase Fee' which is used on HP loans.
My first one in 1969 was £2 with a company called Granby Finance in Manchester. Mind you, I think the payments were £9 something a month. Those were the days!"There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0
