Edf existing direct debit customers - get it right
Options
Many posters are in the process of signing up to Edf FP 2014 where Direct Debit payment is mandatory.
I suggest every customer prints this off...

...studies it *very* carefully, and keeps it safe with the account documents.
You will see the "objective" of level payments throughout the year, something not difficult to calculate (on a fixed price tariff) if the switch was informed by accurate annual consumption. However be aware that a switch starting Jul or Aug won't have fully funded the seasonal excess consumption by the first of the "twice a year" reviews, even if it would have by the first annual review.
I predict (could be wrong) that Edf will try to hike Direct Debits after the first of the "twice a year" reviews. Be aware that there are no grounds for such a hike if the annual consumption has been correctly declared and actual consumption remains "on profile".
If Edf try to increase my Direct Debit and haven't complied 100% with the terms of the document above I will be responding with a formal complaint.
Keep alert Moneysavers. Be warned Edf.

Thanks jalexa...im not very savvy when it comes to energy pricing etc,but ive also recently initiated a switch from british gas standard to EDF 2014 and oddly enough was thinking about the same thing....at the moment im around £200 in credit with BG..but i dont tend to think of this as money in the bank, its more just money "on standby" for when my usage increases in winter..obviously starting off with EDF i wont have that build of of credit to fall back on in the winter months, and have been wondering how long it would take..I did base my comparison on annual Kw usage.im already feeling anxious about switching, been with BG for years just worried that the switch wont go smoothly, wonder sometimes if the hassle is worth the savings, hope im not going out of the frying pan into the fire!Slimming World..Wk1,..STS,..Wk2,..-2LB,..Wk3,..-3.5lb,..Wk4,..-2.5,..Wk5,..-1/2lb,Wk6,..STS,..Wk7,..-1lb.
Week 10,total weightloss is now 13.5lbs Week 11 STSweek 14(I think)..-2, total loss now 1 stone exactly
GOT TO TARGET..1/2lb under now weigh 10st 6.5(lost 1st 3.5lbs)0 -
This happens with most suppliers. A simple call to explain that you haven't had enough time to "fund" your account to cover the winter usage is usually enough to keep the DD the same, particularly if you manually pay extra to cover off the resulting debit you'll have on the winter bill. No need to start thinking about complaints procedures etc.0
