I took out an increase on my mortgage loan, just prior to my mortgage finishing in 2007 to get my kitchen updated. It is due to be paid in October. I noticed that the new charges show a final payment of£299 to completent plus £50 to keep deeds. My original mortgage taken out in 1982 the charge was £10 and it was free to keep the deeds.
As I have had a mortgage with them since 1982 was it ok for them to up the final payment fee from its original amount? As my last payment in October takes both these amounts into account, is there anything I can do?

Hi Mary
I would assume that the increase you took in 2007 is a brand new contract in itself with updated terms & conditions, and therefore new terms for final payment fees...
The best way to check is to call them and ask them..
