Petrol generator @ B&Q - Which one for the job?

I am after buying a petrol generator for those few days when we have a power cut at home. The power cuts seem to be getting more and more regular and last for longer so I just want a generator as emergency backup.
All I need to be able to run from it is say a fridge, a TV, a couple of lights and the pump on the fish tank (just the essentials!). I will just run these off an extension lead.
I have seen in B&Q on sale (20% off) three generators, one 0.7Kva for £40, a 1.1Kva for £80 or a 2.2Kva for £140.
I know the small one will not be man enough for the job but can anyone give me any ideas as to whether the 1.1Kva will be big enough?
Just a rough idea will do without getting too technical!
Has anyone bought one from B&Q, are they any good or can you recommend anything else? I don't want to spend hundreds as it's only for emergencies.
Any help is much appreciated. Thank you.
