School Clerical Assistant

Hi

Hope someone can help.

A job has come up near me for a school clerical assistant, which would be ideal as I have 3 kids two of which are school age. I just wondered to you get paid during the holidays? Or they unpaid?

Thanks

I think its a case of your total salary being split between 12 months so you get paid the same for the whole 12 months.. pro rata I think its called..

  • Does it say on the application pro rata, if it does you do not get paid for holidays. But what they normally do is spread your wages over the twelve months, so you get a wage each month. Hope that makes sense.
  • You may not get full 'school' holidays - summer holidays can be busy times for schools dealing with exam results, pupils leaving, new admission, staff recruitment etc.

As already stated, your salary would be spread equally over the whole year regardless of how many weeks you work. Therefore you'd be paid the same every month.

I work in a secondary school, and we have a mixture of different length contracts ranging from 39-weeks (standard term-time), through 42-weeks, 44-weeks, and 52-weeks (me:)).

If you work less than 52-weeks, you'd also get pro-rata holiday pay on top. Therefore on a 39-week contract for instance, you'd work 39 weeks, but be paid an additional 4ish weeks on top, and be paid around 43 weeks spread over the year.
    Nice to save.

Is it through an agency? In that case you would not be paid for holidays.

But if it is directly employed by the school or local auithority you will be paid all year round, but you would not necessarily get all the holidays off. YOu need to check this with the school before/when you take it further.
