Had a cracker of a phone call last night from these people - I guess this guy has never owed money in his life (lucky him)
He started by demanding payment within 14 days "or else" - or else what I replied - we will default your account and if you do not pay we will take legal action. well if you are a DCA the accout is already defaulted is it not? so put me in court my credit rating is stuffed anyway I really don't care what you do I have made my offer of payment that is all I can afford and is all I can pay at the present moment in time - when I have more money coming in you will get your share - he says to me "I have never had anyone speak to me like you - everyone is always very sorry and wants to pay back their debts asap"
he then goes on to say that I have my priorities all wrong - my priorities are to feed and clothe my children response still wasn't good enough
then he says why on earth did you run up this debt if you have no intention of paying it
I replied that at the time I was earning in excess of £1300 a month and had and still have every intention of clearing the debt when I am able but my personal income at the moment is zero and I am more than happy to give him his cut of that
thank you for your time he says and puts the phone down

Sounds like the TYPICAL DCA SPIEL, natters.
They are programmed to assume that people are only in debt by intent, and no matter what you tell them, they will not listen.
What was the name of the DCA?I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

I am sure he said nationwide rog2 - afraid I get so many of them calling at the minute I lose track of who they are
Natwest were a bit taken aback when they threatened to pass my accounts onto a dca too - I said good please hurry up and do it because as soon as you do that i wont have the interest and charges bumping up the balance
I used to feel so ashamed and had so many sleepless nights wondering how to get all these paid off - now I am past the stage of caring and they will have what I have got and can't have any more no matter how much they threaten I find it alot easier to cope with the calls - funny how they can push you to a state of being as rude to them as they are to you, sometimes if I am really bored it can be quite entertaining as they get wound up with the responses0 -
I had a £5000 balance on a Natwest card when I split up from my first husband, when I could no longer afford the min payments Natwest froze the interest and started off paying £30 per month. Every six months they ring up and I increase the payments by £2.00 that was nearly 5 years ago, still only paying £42 per month now only about 18 months to go and it should be gone.
I found Nat West to be helpful and they are always polite on the phone. Maybe I am luckyPad, started 28.11.08 running total £3674.91:T
