ive got a £3000 debt from my past marriage that i was left with
i pay £25 a month but will be in a position to pay it off at end of this month
the debt is with a collevtion agency at the moment
when i pay it off how long will my history affect me getttin credit in the future ?
also ive got my 'rating' from equifax and experian and they include details of my ex husband and ex partner ,
i no longer have nething to do with these 2 so how do i remove their names from having nething to do with me?
im thinkin of emigrating to australia in approx 2 years when ive qualified and wondered how this credit rating would affect this?
thanx

Hi
Check out these links for some assistance

Since it went to a collection agency, I assume you defaulted on the loan - the lender would have sent you a notice of default. If this is the case, I'm afraid it'll be on your records for 6 years from the date of the default.
To remove ex's details from your files, you will have to write to each of the agencies telling them you wish to be financially disassociated from these people Each of the three CRA's will have their own form - Experians can be completed online using the link above.0 -
I believe, if and when you go to Australia, you will have to start again with regards to credit scoring.
I say this only because I have seen some of these relocation TV shows where people who have emigrated sometimes have a bit of difficulty with finances as they have no credit history.
So, I'm guessing your history in the UK will not hamper you once you get to Aus but I'm sure there are ways of finding this out for sure.

One thing to watch out for (any joint debts)- may leave you tied as you had a financial connection. I am in this boat also. I guess however if you are paying it off this month then you'll be ok!
Good luck
