Specs from £12

I took advantage of the ASDA free eye test in November-great! Since then I have found a company who take orders for spectacles on-line or over the telephone. I ordered a pair of single vision lens glasses for £12!! £14.30 with postage. I ordered them Monday and recieved them Thursday. The customer service is excellent. The style I ordered was 176,they are superb. The website is https://www.specs-by-post.com.:j :j

There is another company that does this too. Next time I get and eye test I am planning to buy from them. Plus Quidco too.

  • don't use glasses direct, I spent nealy £60 on a rimless pair. The lens broke in half on the 5th day of wearing, they should have been made from polycarbonate the industry standard for rimless specs. They cut costs and sent normal type lenses, very thick and brittle. I have returned them for a refund - you pay for what you get.
My brother is a specsavers optician and laughed at the quality. cost price for a polycarbonate lens is 50p more than a regular lens.
Opticians may refuse to give a Pupillary distance reading as it is not a requirement for an eye test, if you ask for one they know that you are going online.

of course my experience may be different to others

I use https://www.goggles4u.com, and I think they're great. I'm no expert but my £13 or so rimless specs have lasted 6 months so far.

    I just want to recommend goggles4u ...

my prescription is ultra complex, with my right eye being at -12.75X+3.50 and my left eye at -6.75X+4.25 ... only goggles4u were able to offer glasses with a prescription this .. erm .. unique ... i can't thank them enough ..

ps. all this talk of glasses made me order a new pair from goggles4u. They've now added a Strong Prescription extra charge of $10. I'd be a little annoyed about that, but I find it hard when I'm still only paying £18 in total inc. delivery. Just a heads up for the hard of seeing like myself ......

Another vote for googles4u here - £12 delivered and seem fine compared to my "normal" specsavers ones. Free posh "designer" spec case as well.
They arrived in a sack with a handwritten address from far, far, away.

Measured my own Pupil Distance - ruler and mirror:-)
