  • Thanks for everyone's replies,

Personally, I'd say £5 a month is quite high for clothes for me. Aside from a new bra last month bought with an M & S voucher I found from Xmas, I can't remember the last time I bought any new clothes. My weight doesn't fluctuate and I stopped getting taller a long time ago so I don't really need anything new. A lot of my newer stuff I got off my mum as she quit smoking early this year and her weight ballooned after that so I got most of her wardrobe. So I don't imagine I'll need new clothes for a very long time, that's just there to be on the safe side.

Yes, playing the Lottery is utterly ridiculous and I won't offer a rationale for it, I've heard it all before on here so I know you will have too. The charity is one very dear to me and I really would rather leave it as it is. I know it looks a bit daft when put next to the emergency fund. Then again, I'm renting a flat so there's not a great amount of essential things that can break that I'm responsible for. The washing machine is a washer-dryer and covered by insurance, the extra money on top of the MOT is for car repairs and my phone's still in warranty. The only essential things we might need it for is the iron and maybe the kettle. I should be getting a new laptop around my birthday time (end of this month) so that'll be under warranty for at least a year. So there's not much we need an emergency fund for. If anyone can think of anything I've missed though, please let me know.

Re car insurance, I just realised I accidentally put in a figure for 10 months instead of 12 (God knows why) so I'll redo that in a second. I did the same for maintenance too for some reason but knowing my car, that can stay as it is. I love that car to bits but if something can go wrong, it will. The next person who comes up to me and says, "Oh, they're so reliable," is getting their hand shoved in the fan. :rotfl:

I haven't put income from mystery shops in my SOA, just how much I'd spend doing them if I got four a month. I know I get reimbursed what I spend but it's easier to just count the money as gone and then whatever I get back can go straight to my card instead of having to take off the reimbursement. Anything that involves less maths is good as far as I'm concerned. :D

The flat is a two bed as all the one beds around us disappeared before we had time to blink. After graduation, I'll probably look to downsize to a one bed though unfortunately, it couldn't be a bedsit as one of my OH's issues is claustrophobia.

The nearest place to volunteer for the charity in question in two hours away by car so that's not really practical unfortunately. I wish it were closer, I'd happily volunteer there all the time if I could. I did a stint there in Jan and it was the best two weeks of my life, aside from where I was staying but that was free so I can't complain too much. Not sure I could stomach it again though.

The card's hidden at the back of my purse atm. I'm cutting it up when my OH comes to see me next week. He was there for the cutting up of the last lot, it's only fair he should be there again.
