A few tips to get REALLY CHEAP holiday deals

I'm sure I'm not alone in being on a bit of a tight budget for this years holidays, but rather than downgrade, I decided to just put extra effort into finding a good deal. I think it paid off! Heres what I did to get a better deal.

1. Firstly I noticed that there are not many amazing last minute deals with package operators, so its all been booked independently.

2. In the past there were risks to this eg. If Ryanair flight cancelled you were screwed, but now the EU decided that they have to get you home and put you up in accommodation in the meantime, so that is a big risk removed. This meant that we could get low cost airline flights, and find great deals with out too many worries. We managed to easily get flights for under £50pp each way including luggage and fees in September booking 6 weeks ahead - similar prices were available for all popular Mediterranean destinations. This was using jet2 to fly out and ryanair to return (to get favourable flight times and the best prices) Flights sorted!

3. Hotels! Sign upto to topcashback.co.uk or quidco.com

hotels.com offer 12% on all bookings through those sites - plus they do price match, and one free night for every 10 nights booked.

4. Book your hotel through hotels.com via the cashback site, and you automatically get 12% back plus one free night if you book 10 nights, so more or less 20% off an 11 day holiday in total. (you can also get £4 cash back per jet2 booking, so book each seat as a separate booking)

5. Go to travelocity.com - this is usually the actual cheapest place to find accommodation on the net and is often 20% cheaper than hotels.com. Find their price, and then claim the price match via hotels.com (if you can find cheaper than travelocity then claim the price match on that price obviously)

Its quite a bit of messing around, and you need to read the terms and conditions carefully at all stages and understand the restrictions and risks. Also bear in mind, you will be paying full price at booking, but then getting 30-40% of the price back in the following month or two.

Using this method me and my partner have saved hundreds of pounds. Hope this helps some of you to get a great deal too!

We're going to Mallorca, but its kind of irrelevant which is why I didnt say. Pretty much all the same hotels are on all the hotel booking sites, and any fairly popular holiday destination in Europe tends to be served by at least 3 low cost air lines. Transfers are extra (even package holidays charge for it on top), but for our holiday in September we have booked a nice car for 15 euros a day from the airport through cardiddy.com so no transfers needed.
