Whichonehowmuch.co.uk

Some time ago there was a thread (which appears to have been removed) about the website Whichonehowmuch.co.uk and its toolbar addin called the WOHM Shopping Companion which is "An extension to your browser that automatically finds price comparisons, reviews and video content on the product you are looking at without having to leave the page you are on."

At the time I expressed doubts about the legitimacy of this website as it appeared to be masquerading as part of the Which? group but there was no mention of it on the Which? home site and Domain records made it apparent that it was neither owned nor run by the Which? organisation. As the WhichOneHowMuch website itself provides no information as to who the owners of the site are and due to the proliferation of scam sites attempting to put malicious software on users' computers I expressed my unease and said I would email Which? to discover what this site's status was and feedback to the thread, as that thread appears to have gone, I am feeding back here instead.

I have finally received a reply from Which? who have confirmed that
WhichOneHowMuch is an affiliate of theirs and I have included an anonymised version of this email below.

I cannot comment on the efficacy of the website nor the addin they supply and I maintain that they should provide easily accessible ownership/contact information on their website which at present they do not; but I can now say that despite my misgivings they are a legitimate affiliate of Which? and I am happy to pass this information on.

Hello [Snip]
Thanks for your email.

Whichonehowmuch.co.uk is a partner of Which.co.uk. The site is an affiliate of Which.co.uk with the objective of giving customers information about products and Which? itself.

The site is a compare and review site. Customers can see what products they want to buy and also compare prices of these products at the same time.

Come on people, it's not difficult: lose means to be unable to find, loose means not being fixed in place. So if you have a hole in your pocket you might lose your loose change.

    MOVING THREADS FOR BETTER RESPONSES

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com.
    :hello:
  • Thanks Stumpy I've used the site quite a lot saved £50 on a car seat but didn't know they had a toolbar. I think I might give it a go.

  • HEy stumpy I gave that shopping companion a go and saved 10% on a new computer game. I know it's not much but i guess it all adds up.

Thanks for the hint, I will definitely re-visit that site!
  • If you go to the about us page, they now provide ownership/contact information and also explain that they are in partnership with Pricerunner & Which?.

As for the shopping companion itself...it's still popping up from time to time and always saves me a few quid! :)
