Shame you don't have a Freecycle group locally - have you investigated whether there's anything similar near you though? For example,. in my area there's no local Freecycle group as such (I am a member of the London group which is fantastic, but my borough doesn't have its own group, while a lot of other London boroughs do). However if you go onto the council website and look at the waste/recycling section, there's a "swap exchange" service...plattinum wrote:That is an exellent idea about the DIY course bommer, might look into that myself. I bought a duvet cover from asda around 5 years ago, and that still looks pretty good, cost £20ish from what I remember. If anyone has any links for reasonably priced beds would love to see them. My son desperatley needs a bed,the base is broken and beyond repair. There is no freecycle in our area which is a shame. Maybe I should start one?

I hope your kids have a great time at Pontins Lisa. I am sure they will. They can go abroad when they are older and will appreciate it!0

Pontins is definately not cheap, I've started surfing for this years holiday (always self catering and always in this country) and i couldn't believe how expensive the likes of Haven/Pontins etc are - during the school hols upwards of £800 for one week in a basic caravan .... eek!! Apparently you can get a house in Florida for half that (before you all cry flights on top etc I'm talking comparatively ie: if you live in the usa then its a bargain!!) how do our holiday centres get away with it?? We have a touring van and its still likely to cost upwards of £500 for a fortnight + petrol + food etc. Sorry for going off track. As far as everything else you really are doing too well to slip off the wagon now (speaking as someone who has frequently fell off and under the wagon - many times!!) just stay focussed and think when the debts are completely gone the money you'll saving can pay for all the things you need and want!! Good luck and well done.I stopped smoking 25th June 2007STILL Never complacent but confidentMy debt is GOING DOWN!!!!0

The other thing to remember when you are having a down day (and we all get them!) is that at the end of the day, when you buy your item without using credit, the item is YOURS.
Buying on credit means you are borrowing it until you pay the balance. It only needs someone to have a bit of bad luck, for the credit card/HP companies to call in their debts.
Just imagine how well you will sleep in your bed when you know you have paid for it in full (regardless of how much its cost you!)
