Making money from music (beats)?

Hello everyone,
I 'm a music producer and interested in selling instrumental music that I make. A brief google search will flood you with 'selling beats' websites but there's bound to be a lot of scams there.
Does anyone know anything re: selling beats online and if so, what's the most effective way of bringing buyers to your music?
Much appreciated!

Hey!
I think that as you're a music producer you'd already be aware of any reliable/popular sites so maybe they are few and far between. Probably the decent ones are not very well advertised!
Personally, I'd say build your own site
then you can be sure it's not a scam and maybe attract other users to sell their stuff too and make a little out of each sale.
This is the kind of thing I'd love to build! Building platforms that users can fill with awesome content and purchase from at any time of day.
It wouldn't cost you much to set up! I'd say there was a growing market for this kind of thing, especially if it was priced reasonably to reach out to all those GarageBand, FruityLoops users out there.
Keep me updated, I'd be happy to help on the tech side of things if you decide to make a go of it!0 -
I've asked a few electro musician friends.
They say that most companies sell their own beats from their own site, very few sell other peoples and pay them for it.
As I'm sure you're aware they provide an audi preview track which features a few different beats, then they sell a full CD compilation of many beats including the ones in the preview.
After all, people don't buy things they haven't heard before but once they've heard it they could re-create it themselves. So the sample/CD model gets around piracy.0
