I have the Humax 9200t PVR, we love it. Find it difficult going to other's houses (sad) without one. It gets lots of recommendations on this site. I am not very technical so dont know the ins and outs, but it is fab for our little use.
The only thing I would say is that once you have recorded something you have to watch it, and sometimes my daughter wants a hard copy so that she can watch it on her laptop/playstation and this doesn't seem possible0 -
There is a twin tuner model in Asda for £80 that will record about 35 hours and has a 7 day programming guide0

Firstly, I would recommend this Humax - it is excellent.
You can easily create a hard-copy of any programme that you record with the Humax - so you could download and play it onto a Laptop or put it on a DVD. Take a look here for instructions: http://www.hummy.org.uk/invison/index.php?showtopic=4710 -
We have an Inverto 80Gb machine and it is brilliant. We connected a dvd recorder to it and we make copies of stuff we want to keep for posterity using that. Offspring can now watch recorded stuff on their computers and tellies. Easy to do. The tv guide is great to use. There is an Inverto users forum which I found very helpful - including an online idiot proof instruction booklet. I googled for that. You could get more information there.
Purchased it online from Boots.

Hope the link works. The Inverto is on offer at £149.99 at the moment with free delivery and don't forget to collect the points.
Apologies. Have just read that you want ONE unit. My recommendation was to use two. OOps!0 -
Thanks folks - according to a post on the digitalspy thread there is no such thing as a unit with both twin tuner AND DVD recorder. Hard to believe that there's no market for such a thing!0

Hi Scottyg1987
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, if only I knew what they were talking about!! Is there a lay man guide. It sounds so complicated, call me daft or whatever0 -
With the Humax, if I get sky or cable at a subsequent date will I be able to tape from those ?0
