PAYE refund Q?

Hi,

Not sure where to post this so thought I'd try here :)

I have 2 part-time term time only jobs as follows:

Job 1 - I have been doing this for about 5 years. Its casual work on an as and when required basis (relief cover), 38 weeks a year, so earnings from this vary.

Job 2 - I started last June, and as its my 2nd job, I had to go on BR tax code. This is 7.5 hours a week with occasional overtime, again 38 weeks a year.

I did my annual Tax return last month, as I also declare some rental income from a small flat I let.

Taking earnings from both jobs and rental profit this year (we had a flood and paid for repairs and 3 months letting void last summer), I am sure I am due a tax refund. I have never had one before, and not sure how it works or how long it takes to come through. Will they expect my employer to do it through my PAYE, or will I get a cheque?

Also, will this automatically trigger a correction of my tax code, or will I still have to ring them at some point to get it put right?

Sorry if thick questions, but never have to contact the HMRC before and want to get it sorted in my head before I have to speak to someone on the phone confusing me ever more!

Thanks ;)

when you completed your tax return did you put your bank account details on it? If so the refund will be paid into that after your return is processed. If you didn't then you need to contact HMRC and ask for it to be paid directly to you by cheque.
