Yet another car question

Bit of an arkward situation, my ex's car is financed in my name as she couldnt get financed when she bought it, she paid deposit and has made all payments on the car and its always been registered and insured in her name, I've had nothing to do with it beyond the finance. So now I've gone BR shes worried about her car, I contacted fiat, who the finance is with and they said they have no interest in taking back the car or canceling the agreement as long as payments are upto date thats all there interested in but this will depend on if the OR has an interest in the car.

So obviously the finance co is the primary owner of the car but who owns any excess above the settlement figure? as she as paid all payments and deposit is it hers? or as its financed in my name is it mine? and therefore claimable by the OR?

Thanks
