Any thoughts?
Can you have any allowance for presents at all?
Will the OR allow my son's marshall arts classes as I can argue he needs to attend them due to his special educational needs....?

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but sadly, no, the OR doesn't allow for presents
. They don't allow for vet bills/pet insurance either.
Hopefully, someone else who knows the ins and outs of an SOA will be along to advise where you can make adjustments so that you have a bit of wiggle room on other monthly outgoings, so that you can buy your loved ones the odd gift and not look like the scrooge of the family
If I remember correctly the OR allowed us £20 per month contingency and you are allowed some for a modest holiday.0 -

What sort of job do you do?BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -
The electric is actually higher as I'm paying off arrears from bad estimated bills - actually paying £110 but thought £80 might be more acceptable.
My son is 9 and it would be really detrimental to his education and wellbeing if the OR didn't allow the marshall arts - is there no room for negotiation on these matters?
The £2 life insurance is just a £30000 accidental death policy - it doesn't pay out at all unless I meet with a sticky end! Would the OR really care about this? It's just 2 quid....
The other insurance is washing machine/tumble dryer repair insurance - I'd be lost without them!
I'd be very interested to know where the OR expects you to get your hair cut - my son's hair is £8 quid monthly as it is!0 -
Oh and I work in an office - smart/casual clothes.0

If the OR only allows £20 (£5 a week) for your son's activities , it doesn't mean he cannot continue with it, it just means that you will have to take money from a different allowance.
Surely by paying back extra on the electricity you are favouring a creditor, can't you put your electricity debt into the br?0 -

It's just 2 quid....Fraid so....they'll take a £2 premium bond to cash that they'll take your insurance unless you buy out the recivers interest
The other insurance is washing machine/tumble dryer repair insurance - I'd be lost without them! depends on the receiver really they may allow then again you might have to find the money elsewhere

I know I dont and pay considerably less than thatcarrie6874 wrote: »Oh and I work in an office - smart/casual clothes. We all die. and I agree with Kepar the arrears on the elec should be included in the bankruptcy you cannot favor one creditor over anotherWe all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0

Thanks for your feedback.
It didn't even occur to me that arrears with the electric should be part of the BR cos they just adjust the direct debit to cover the higher than the estimate bill.....hmmm....
Oh and yes my son's hair grows incredibly quickly and I live in an expensive town!
I didn't really understand this "Fraid so....they'll take a £2 premium bond to cash that they'll take your insurance unless you buy out the recivers interest" - can anyone explain what this means please? I don't get any kind of return from this policy and it can't be cashed in, it's purely a lump sum that my son would get if I have an accident and die - it's worthless unless that happens.0 -
For haircuts try the local college as they could be cheaper to get it cut, obviously cal first to see if they do it and the cost0
