Hi Regret70,
Sorry to hear you're finding things so hard at the moment. We're in a DMP with Payplan and although the budget they allow is tight it should leave enough to keep on top of repayments and avoid further bank charges. Maybe you need to go through your budget again with them and see if they can free up a little more money? Or perhaps you could post again with details of your monthly expenditure and the bank charges so someone could give advice on how to avoid them or cut them down?

just been reading the thread and that video is brilliant!
I don't know anything about dmp's but have you seen the forum? Living on a DMP I think it's called, as TopCat9 said the point of the dmp is to make things simpler and more effective in allowing you live a life whilst you are dumping the debt so if it's not working for you then perhaps you should go and speak to them. Is the company you are with charging you for the service? I believe there are companies out there who do it for free, you'd have to look up which ones on the dmp board but the info will be there.
You say this is "no more than you deserve" wow, that's really harsh! Everyone on these boards is here because they have made mistakes with money in the past, so many people jumped on board with the debt is great and normal messages which we've been fed for so many years and now we've all had a huge wake up call and we're all doing our best to deal with our financial history, please stop beating yourself up over the situation - it won't help in the long run and is just making you feel rubbish. I do understand and in fact I posted on here the other day saying that after I looked at my snowball calculator that I should be happy but actually I felt overwhelmed with the years ahead, it took me a couple of days to shrug it off - we all have off days but please try and let the bad feelings about the past go.
I really hope you are feeling a bit better today?0 -
Hi regret - it sounds like things are going rather wrong with your budget if you've only got 20 a week to feed yourself and your husband as that seems a little low to me for a realistic budget and you obviously owe the tv licence money as well.
I'd have a chat with Payplan and go through your budget again with them to be honest. Have you had any big expenses recently that have cause this blip? If so then don't forget if you have a really bad month - ie the washer blows up or the car breaks then you should let Payplan know that you will have to reduce your payment amount for a month or 2 due to the issue.
Best of Luck

Hello All
Just wanted to say thanks for all your advice on friday. I am feeling a bit happier about things today, think I had just had a bad week and was on my own at home feeling fed up.
I dont know where I would be without this site, to just be able to pop on and be cheered up instantly is brilliant (and its free!)
found some pasty in the freezer so i'm off to bake myself a comforting apple pie :-)
thanks xxLBM- may2010:A0 -
Hi regret had to come on and say I'm glad your feeling a lot better. There will be times when it will all seems too much to bear ,so coming onto this site and letting off steam is a good coping mechanism and everyone that replies to you, really do know how you are feeling, we've all been down at some point in our dmp journey ,probably more than they care to mention ,as for being " no more than you deserve"please don't think like that we all deserve to feel good about ourselves your are being hard on yourself. There are some good points on your thread such as ,being on a realistic budget perhaps you have cut back a little too much,we all deserve a little treat every now and then ,have another look at your budget ..take care of yourself, whenever your feeling low and alone ,come back and have a good wee moan xxx we'll listen:grouphug0

Hi regret
Maybe you need to review your budget with payplan and ask them to increase the allowances a bit?If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Hi all
I just wanted to pop on here and give an update to my situation, I dont know if it will help anyone or if anyone is interested?!
I started this thread in august, where I was completely at my whits end. To be honest looking back I probably did give as much detail as i should have done to mess I was in (I was in arrears on bills, mortgage, hire purchase, payday loans and in a DMP!!!)...
Anway here I am in January 2012 and.... I am up to date with all my bills and mortgage. I have caught up with the car loan and have just one (yes 1!!!!) payment left and it is mine. I still have payday loans but have entered into arrangements with them all and will be free of them by May! and no more bank charges for unpaid DD's either!
I feel I have completely turned things around and even though at times I have had to live off nothing, and my christmas presents that I gave were pretty poor I am in such a better position. Yes still have a mountain of debt in my DMP but in a few months I am really going to tackle that debt too.
I can honestly say that I have never been as stressed as I was a few months ago, and I never believed I would be in a better position again. but thanks to you guys on here who have encouraged me on this roller coaster, I seem to have gone from a dip to a peak. I am sure there will be plenty more dips along the way but I am determined to make 2012 my year!!!
thanks to everyone xxLBM- may2010:A0 -
It is really tough on a DMP and like you, I see it as penance for not being careful in the past. It's awkward when friends ask you to go out or on holiday. Congratulations on getting back on track though!Second and final LBM 01/01/11 Nearly got there but fell of wagon. HAVE to do it this time :mad:0

I remember reading your post when I was feeling pretty low too so I'm very glad to hear things aren't as bad now. We've really struggled these past 6 months and some days we literally had no food
but this month we're acutally going to have some money left over. LOL probably only about £2.50 but it's better than nowt!
Well done with the car
and lets hope 2012 is a better year for us all! 0
