is Call1899 legit?

A few months ago I signed up for www.1899.com when I saw it on here, for cheaper calls to the States, mainly. Oddly, payment of my invoice failed this month, due to my card not being accepted. So I logged in and changed my card details, only to receive an email shortly thereafter saying THAT payment failed. I was about to set up a direct debit but then thought that I am giving this company way too much of my personal details. When I went into my payment details, there is a Confirmation box you have to tick, and it is spelled "Conformation".
I cannot find any way to contact them. I have emailed them with my concerns. They do not accept cheque, so the only way to pay is to give this company access to your accounts with security ID number. Im feeling pretty uncomfortable with this. Anyone else have this problem?

I have used them for years. Got 1p a minute for calls to the States mainly. They bill my card every 3 months. I have had no problems.
Their computers however do not like AOL, and other stuff, so maybe their is a registration issue with some servers.....?
NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!
  • That is odd. Perhaps they will call me in response to my email. I know they probably have limited staff & that is how they keep the tariff so low, but this is just odd. My credit cards are all good, and Im using Internet Explorer. So weird.

You could try 18185.co.uk instead? You can pay by direct debit with them and the USA is 0.5ppm (plus 4p connection).

  • I also use 1899 and have not had any problems. If you log in to your account, they also give details of their bank account so that you can pay via online banking.
