Council Tax/Bristow & Sutor

Hi,

Two things I want to try & get advice on is:

Business rates; About 7 years ago, I had a small office of which I somehow did'nt pay business rates on, once I had the bill from the council, I started to make payments (£20 pm) as this was as much as I could afford at the time, anyway I managed to get it down to about £200 & then missed one. It went straight to Bristow & Sutor who decided to turn up at my door with the £200 bill plus £300 added for the van & time.

I had no choice but to set up an arrangement with them as they wrote on a piece of paper that they would levy my caravan (on the drive) & take it away within 24hrs unless I paid in full.

So far I have paid £68/£100/£100 towards the increasing debt, but I'm feeling well hacked off about the fee's.

Home Council Tax; Because the threat of taking away my goods by the above, my council tax has now suffered, thus now having a pay in full bill from the same council.

I've been to explain that as I've been out of work for a few months, I cannot pay in full, however I start work with a new employer on Monday & once I get paid (end of Sept) I should be in a better position.

The problem I foresee is that as I can't pay them until end Sept, then this will be passed to there friends at B&S who will turn up with another van & add a further few hundred quid to the account.

I do have other priority debts, including secured ones, but I am kind of managing these, JUST.

I have 3 kids & a wife & are pulling in the belt, but it wont get much tighter :)
