Credit Reports - Updated How Often?

I want to apply for my credit reports from the various agencies to confirm my own records as to exactly who has defaulted us so far. I will only be paying for the statutory reports rather than monthly access, but I'm not sure when to apply for them as I would like the info to be as current as possible.

Do they all update pretty much instantly or is it once a month? I don't want to waste my much needed £2's only to find that the accounts update on say 1st of each month and therefore have to reapply for it again.

Also, do credit reports show the date the credit cards were initially taken out and the original co/bank that they were taken with? Or do they only show the current creditor? Eg. I have a card with one bank that I know used to be a different bank but I can't remember who it used to be or when it changed over :o

Why not apply for the months free trial? You can also get cashback through Quidco etc this way. Won't cost you anything so long as you remember to cancel!

When I had access to mine I found that some companies updated once a month although not on a set date and others (Lloyds in particular) took anywhere from 2 - 3 months to update my balances with them which was very frustrating.

    Hope that helps :)

Oh and mine showed the date that the account was opened, credit limits and when they had changed etc. None of my accounts had changed hands so sorry, can't help with that one.

    Hi

With mine it tends to get updated monthly (I subscribe to a monthly fee as trying to keep track of quite a few different things)

It shows original date agreements were taken out I think but not necessarily the original company the debt was with if it has changed over

It's worth knowing as well that if you have been paying the monthly fee for a while it's worth saying you want to cancel ;) I went ahead and cancelled mine anyway but the fee went down from £7.99 a month to £1.99 a month by the time we'd finished :)

    That's great, thanks both

I can't apply for monthly access at the moment as we need every single penny we've got, but good to know they do reduce the monthly fee if you ask/pester!
