I was speaking to a friend last night, who although she was laughing about her 19 year old son, is extremely proud of the fact that he is very careful about not getting into debt, to the point that he has a spreadsheet running and if the spreadsheet doesn't say yes, he doesn't buy.
I know that many have learnt this leasson the hard way, but I am sure you will agree that it is such a good attitude at a young age and hopefully he will be able to enourage his peers to be responsible.

Good to see that there are a few who are learning the right way from the start!
My 18 yr old is much better with money than I ever was from his age, I only hope that he continues this and carries it with him throughout life
It seems I have learnt from my own mistakes and taught him well!!
Which leads me to wish that I had been taught money management either by my own parents or even in school.
Temptation by way of credit cards and easy loans are thrown out there for pretty much anyone to access without warning of the consequences. All school kids should have a lesson a week reading this forum to see how bad the effects of debt really are in real life in the same way that they're given info about the dangers of drug/substance/alcohol abuse.LBM Feb 11 - Joint Debts of around £80,000 _pale_ And nothing significant to show for it :embarasse

That's great, my parents didn't teach me anything about money management - not that I'm blaming them for my debt problems but it would have been good to be informed! I will definitely be teaching my kids as much as I know (which is a lot more than I used to thanks to this site!).DFW by end of June 2016...! LBM June 2011
