                    Hi all,
I just wondered what my chances of obtaining a mobile phone contract would be?
I am a year from being discharged (early) from BR, have a Vanquis card (who have just increased my limit), a cashplus creditbuilder card which has been running for almost a year now and also applied and was succesful for a Very account (which I immediately closed). I opened the catalogue account just purely out of curiosity as to whether I would be accepted.
I have also just finished paying off a small loan I obtained just after christmas (obtained with a guarantor of course) which will go down as a settled and satisfied loan of my credit file.:)
I am on the electoral roll and my credit files have been cleaned up to show all accurate information.
Can anyone shed any light on what my chances may be?
I mean, would a rolling monthly contract from say "o2" be more likely to be accepted as opposed to a 12 or 24 month "proper" contract??
Thanks.

30 day rolling sim you'll probably get...
Tmobile & three have been known to help with contracts...
I started with a virgin PAYG sim after a couple of months they offered a full upgrade to a contract (so now i've a few months left before it ends so i'll see what they offer if I stay)We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0 -
A toughie - you might be o.k. I applied to 3 (who I already have one phone with and never defaulted the account) a few years after my bankruptcy and it was declined. I was very suprised, especially given that I already had one accoutn with them and it had been run perfectly. I tried Tesco Mobile (o2) a few days ago and managed to get a 12 month contract with them. Might be worth a try...BCSC Member 70:j

It seems to be very hit and miss unfortunately, I managed to get a monthly contract with an HTC Desire one month after discharge.:pB&SC No. 298

            Hi guys,
Is a rolling 30 day contract the same as a 12 month as far as a credit agreement is concerned?
I mean, would a 30 day contract have the same positive effect on your credit file as a 12 or 24 month contract with same green happy ticks ever month.
Hope that made sense??

think of it as more "a foot in the door to better things"

Agreed - but it still reports to your credit file in exactly the same way, so whether its a 1 month or a 12 month agreement you still get the same green tick when you pay on time.
I was told about talkmobile and applied here (simply because using that link, at the bottom of the page, also enters you into a draw for a car) - I got 30 day rolling contract, 200 mins, 500 txts, 500MB data for £8 pm.0 -
I'm a Virgin Media customer and have just been approved for a full contract. Not yet discharged. To be fair they're not one of my creditors and I've been with them over a year and never paid late. Just reinforces the lack of consistency.0

Discharged less than 4 months. Accepted by t-mobile on a 24 month contract through online application.0

I'm a bit worried - are you not allowed a mobile phone contract while BR? I had one pre BR and had never defaulted and have simply carried it on and pay each month on time - they have just upgraded me and I've signed for another 24 months.
Is this not ok? Should I not be on a contract?
Sorry, probably a stupid question but am a bit confused and worried I've done something wrong here.
I'm now a week away from AD.0
