Forms needed to claim tax back

Options
As well as your P60 and a covering letter do you need to also include your P45 when making a tax refund claim? I didn't give my new employer a P45 so I need to get them to give me a P46. Do I send this instead of the P45?

Many thanks.

Anyone? I've heard conflicting information about what to send and I don't fancy sitting on the end of a phone to the tax office for half an hour.

If you are claiming a tax refund from say 2010 to 2011 all you need is your P60 (ie a full tax year)

Or are you trying to get a tax refund from this year, if so your tax will be sorted out through the payroll of the company you work for now as soon as the HMRC gets your P45/P46. A P46 can be dowloaded and completed.

    More details are needed please.

Thank you McKneff. I'm claiming for the 2010/11 tax year.

I will fill out the P46 asap to claim tax paid since April and will hopefully be placed on the correct tax code.

Youre welcome, and dont spend it al in one shop:D

Your P46 will ebable your employer to sort your tax out for this year through payroll.

Haha, nope, it's going straight into the bank.

I've been meaning to sort out my P46 for quite a while so this has given me an incentive now.

    Thanks again.
