So I found ten things laying around the house. Mainly clothes that I haven't worn for 5 years. I put them on eBay last sat, just to see, and to hopefully clear a bit of space..... And they're at £7.34 !!! For nothing at all really!!! Good step eh?!?

Anything that a) clears clutter and b) earns you CASH is a VERY good thing!0

Excellent use of resources, go for it

(Just remember to allow for fees / postage & packing costs when working out how much profit you're making)0 -
Thats great, well done you :T0

Sorry I should have said £7.34 plus the postage. I know eBay fees and payPal fees will come out of that but surely there will be some left after deductions for my pockets

Annoyingly the bids haven't gone up at all since I posted. I must have jinxed it!
Well I have a day off as I'm getting broadband installed so I might get out in the garage, find another 10 things and get them on too

Yes indeed :TSorry I should have said £7.34 plus the postage. I know eBay fees and payPal fees will come out of that but surely there will be some left after deductions for my pockets
I'm a little rusty on the current fees, but I think it will be something like this (based on current value):
Listing fee (sometimes free) = 0.99
Final value fee (10% of sale) = 0.73
Paypal (20p + 3.4% of value) = 0.45
So that's roughly £2.17 in fees off your £7.34, making a profit of £5.17.
And in my book a profit is a profit, so well done
Fingers crossed there's a surge in interest - and good luck finding more items for the auction. Ha - I'm starting to sound like Tim Wonnacott!0 -
Well done, anything extra is a bonus!0

Just a note re Ebay: I always wait till the free listing weekends. They usually happen about once a month. Best time to list is usually sunday afternoon / evening, around 7pm (you might notice that's when loads of people are also online on Facebook too).
Good luck!0 -
well done Oregon!! and welcome to the forum

There is an ebay thread which is really good
I love ebay but have not done anything for a few months, will start again soon!!

I'm up to £13.66

Thanks for the tip re the fee listing weekends. I think I'll wait until then for the next ten. And maybe try to find another ten before then too. I read the stream about the weird things to sell on eBay and I have loads of empty perfume bottles so they're going on ;-D*No debts*

I usually wait for free listing days for items I don't to risk selling for 99p! Like my old prom dress. Because 99p listings are free in most categories anyway.
I really need to list more stuff on ebay. I'm moving soon and have so much clutter, old clothes, games, books.etc
I have an ebay spreadsheet where I list end price, listing fee, postage fee, postage costs, paypal fee, final value fee, then I see what profit I make. My last ebay profit from 10 or so items was £32.14! Most of it was clothes0
