Putting on TRV's - any help

We are going to replace our non TRV's with TRV's over the summer. We have got the right size one's but are unsure how easy they are to replace - bits I have seen on the internet seem to imply it's quite a difficult task?

Also out thermostat is in the living room and we want to put a TRV on that radiator as that room heats up really quickly and leaves the rest of the house cold - we thought maybe leave the hallway without a TRV as this is always the coldest part of the house.

Any one any idea how we go about starting this project and what we need to do to make sure it's done properly?

Thanking you in advance :D

I think your best bet would be to get a plumber in.

Changing a valve may not look difficult, but the possible consequences of doing it wrongly (leaks) would be a risk I wouldn't take, even though I would say I am a fair DIY'er.

If tyhe thermostat is in the living room, the boiler will cut off as soon as this room is warm, meaning other rooms could be very cold, or at best luke warm. Therre is probably a set place to site the thermostat (or 'stat as the plumbers say) but i don't know where that is. Google will tell you .. but still, please consider getting a plumber in.

It's a simple enough DIY job. From my personal experience I would say that bleeding the system afterwards is the more problematical side of the operation. I had a new CH water control valve fitted recently as part of my maintenance contract. It was a right "b****r" for the fitter to get the airlocks out. It took him quite a lot longer than fitting the new valve.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

Unfortunately I don't have any money to pay the plumber (they want in excess of £100) so might have to put this job off until then but thanks for your reply.

Thanks for your reply, we had read that they take a lot to get the airlocks out but from your reply it doesn't sound like it's too difficult to change to TRV's (excluding the air lock problem).
