Self Assessment Statement

Options
Self Assessment Statement arrives through the post. Mr AO owes the tax man £0.60,

On the lower section under the "Amount Overdue £0.60" it says..
The amount to pay is small. If you do not wish to pay this now it will be added to your next statement but you may be charged interest if you pay late

I'm thinking, hmm i best pay this. I dont want to pay interest on the £0.60, i switch over onto the rear for the payment options, where it says

Use the internet or phone...etc
  • payment account
  • sort code
  • your reference as shown on the payslip
Logged into the bank, ready to go, hunting down the reference number. I cant find it. No 11 digit number ending with a letter.

Turns out i dont have a payment slip, as the bottom tear off section is blank..

Even if i wanted to pay this, i cant as i dont have the payment slip. Do'h.

Just pay it with your UTR number instead it will end up in correct place, although I am assuming this is kind of a hypothetical point as amounts less than £1 are not chased by HMRC

Interest at 3% also means even by 31/1/12 your next payment date, would be less than 1p even if interest was added ;)
