for my niece I have just been to a build a bear factory and made her a teddy bear and dressed it then my lo filled in the details on the birth certificate and put the teddies 'date of birth' on her 1st birthday.

A family member sent my son a hellium ball in a box on his first birthday. It was one of his best presents..he was very exicted to open the box then the balloon floated up - he loved it. If only they were always to easy to please...but yet a balloon and a box..what more could a one year old want!
