Advice needed please re Readers Digest

my elderly dad has been a customer of readers digest for many years ...he had a direct debit account for the monthly magazines and pays for the books he buys when the statement comes in (not that he needed any of then either ) ..the last one being bought in May ..which cost £30-95
i paid this in full at the post office in June .. the statement is correctly stamp dated also showing the ammount in figures and signed by the teller
my dad has has several letters the last month saying his account is in arrears and demanding the balance the last one saying if not paid within 7 days reffering him to a debt collecter
..after the first letter my brother sent a letter saying it was paid and what was the ammount for ..No reply ..
i went online to his account and it is showing as part payment of £12 for some reason so i sent a letter recorded delivery with photocopy of statement showing it paid in full and sent recorded delivery ..No reply to letter or email
today he has got another letter asking again for payment but wont reply to our letters (signed by my dad )
anyone else had problems with Readers digest .. apart from going down to local post office and getting written proof that full payment was made on the date it was stampted (if they have records of payments taken that day)
dads more worried about debt colectors even though i have assured him it is paid and they readers digest owe him for the stress and inconveinece

Hi heatherks, a difficult one to be honest, but as all else has failed and them appearing quite ignorant in not responding to you..
Pop onto his account on-line and use the Contact part http://www.readersdigest.co.uk/contact.html
It gives you a part to state what the problems is etc. Write everything in there that they will need - and that you would wish them to deal with. Then make certain to copy and paste the entire complaint before submitting it to them. At least - if they don't reply yet again - you have that to show the debt collector IF anyone comes.
If you do that as soon as possible then at least you're covered a bit if the debt people should come. Failing that, get in touch with the Citizens Advice Bureau and ask them what's best.
Meanwhile, please try to reassure your Dad by looking at it all in the way of "What's the worst that can happen?!" Apart from that, you've paid up and that's all that counts.
All the very best heatherks and please let us know how you get on. Once you get this cleared up I should make sure your Dad doesn't deal with them again, it sounds as though they're never worth it.
