Default payment with next but I had no idea!

Just did my yearly credit report check and noticed a defualted payment from Next dated Nov 2010!
I called straight away and explained what I thought it could be...
October 2010 I order a unit online however worried it would not be delivered within 24 hours as I was moving so called and had the address changed and a new account opened (with the old account deleted) and paid directly for the unit. Following day the unit arrives at the first (wrong) address. Delivery man assured me everything was OK so I accepted. Next day we move house and another unit is delivered. I declined it and it was returned. Concerned over two units being delivered I called Next who assured me they recieved payment for one unit and received the second one at their depot. Great all sorted.... until now! From what I can gather they never deleted my first order (which I never paid as I was told it was deleted!).
I called Next and spoke to 3 different advisors and I was finally told to email them with all of the information and my credit card statement showing I paid. I did this 2 days ago and I have heard nothing. They apparantly involved a debt collection agency but they must have sent all of the mail to the previous address (which I made clear I would not be in). The new tenant told me I had no mail. I did receive phone calls from various mobile numbers asking me to confirm my D.O.B and address but as I never give personal information over the phone they would not tell me what it was regarding... I can only think it was this!
My credit report is spotless apart from this. I am so upset that this has happened as it will cause me huge problems and it wasn't my fault. Can a default payment be removed? Sorry for the long post but I am so worried about everything!

Don't panic - it sounds like this default has been incorrectly applied and therefore you stand a good chance of having it removed.
However, it will take a little time and perseverance. Two days isn't long enough for them to have looked at the information, never mind trawled through their own records to double check.
Keep EVERYTHING in writing, and keep calm - think this one will be fine.
Patience - and breathe!!
Let us know how you get on.

Thanks for your kind words. I have been google searching defualts and its sounds like they never get removed so I started to panic. I am OCD about paying things straight away and never doing anything to harm my credit score. I will stick with it and hopefully it will work out. The only time I have ever bought anything from Next online and this happens (on my credit card statement I made 3 other purchases from Next in store so hopefully they can clearly see this was not intentional!).0
