Mid November I made delias traditional christmas puddings x 2.
Only steamed and used 1 on christmas day the other remains maturing under the stairs.
Do you think it would be ok in the freezer for 12 months?
Anyone tried this?
TIA

Hi Tia
I haven't tried freezing the pud, but I have eaten a year old Delia one and it was OK.

Thanks for replying.
Not sure I fancy leaving it 12 months.
Any one else with a success story in the freezer?0 -
Most christmas puddings have a very long shelf life and we have bought several as my O/H loves them, they were reduced to less than half price and we just store them in the cupboard. A good one is meant to last a long time and gets better as it matures so you shouldn't need to freeze it.
Edit: didn't read the question properly and thought you had bought it! Doh! I still think it should last a long time without freezing, they are supposed to mature rather than 'go off'!“I tell you, we are here on Earth to fart around, and don't let anybody tell you different.”

Hi, I keep mine for several months and they're fine. Delia, however, recommends that if you don't eat them straight away, they're better frozen.

This year I used a pudding which has been in my freezer for four years. I took it out in October to mature and it tasted heavenly.0
