Hi there
Just wanting a bit of advice really.
I know I am being silly and I basically just need you to tell me this lol
I am very newly engaged and me and my fiance aren't looking at getting married for a good 5 years (probably even longer). However while looking with my brothers girlfriend last year at wedding dresses (for her), I found my dream dress, It pretty much took my breath away (corny I know) anyway having a scout on ebay the other day I saw it for £320 (its RRP was £1350 last year).
Very tempted to buy it but i know its silly
What do you guys think?
Thank you.

Have you tried the dress on? I know when I was looking at dresses I found some that I thought I really loved just didn't look quite right when I actually put them on.
If it's 5 years or more until you get married, you may find that your tastes or the styles that are around have changed by then, you could also be a different size and find it hard to get the dress adjusted.
I can see why it's tempting but I think it would be better to wait until nearer the time then have fun trying on lots of different dresses.0 -
You are very right, thank you. I hope the woman manages to sell it, it would make a beautiful bargain for someone getting married sooner.:)0

Do you know what style it is? If so, could you maybe track down some pictures of it and keep it in reserve as an idea of what you might want in the future. If you still really love it then maybe consider getting a seamstress to make up a replica for you if it isn't still around by then."A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0

I have to say I love a bargain...but in this case I'm not sure I would go for it...basically tastes and fashions change and 5 years is a very long time...even people change...what fits you now may restrict you down the line....
Keep the style in mind and enjoy your dress shopping a little closer to your wedding...you've found a dress you like now and I'm sure come the time you will find another....frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

if you got it, and started looking for bargins now - u could get married sooner on a budget? xAccept that some days you're the pigeon, and some days you're the statue. Only fools are statues every day. (15.09.12 cant wait!)0

Actually Mandy does have a bit of a point....
and I dont want to pry neither do you have to justify yourself...but why the long engagement?...5 years plus does seem a long time to wait...but then again I could never wait...I met and married my man in 18 months...
some people do have long engagements and theres nothing wrong with that if you are saving for exactly how you want it or to finish studying etc...but it is important to set a date otherwise you may just pootle along with the intention of getting married "one day"..then everything else happens and the wedding gets lost a little....
Set a firm date and then realistically go forward from there....once you have that date you can plan accordinglyfrugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

I found my dress before I found my groom! My friend owned a wedding dress shop, she used to laugh cos i hated all the new dresses she got in, it was a running joke. Then one day she showed me this dress. It was instant love. I just knew no other dress would ever come close to it. I made her promise to save it for me, and after I met future hubby and got engaged (about 18 months later) I tried it on. I loved it just as much as I did the first time I saw it. When I got married another 18 months later I was just as in love with it as ever. (I used to go into her shop on my day off and try it on every week!)
If its the dress for you and you know it, get it.0 -
I reckon go for it! If you get it and it doesn't look right, you can probably sell it on again. If you don't, when you do start looking properly, you might find that you've built that one up in your mind so much that nothing else quite compares.0
