Using up bits of candle wax

Hi I was just wondering what to do with all the bits of wax left after burning candles? Sometimes there is quite a lot left over and it seems a shame to throw it away.
I know you can make new candles from it but how?
Where do I get the wick holder things from?
How do you melt it?
And how do you keep the wick from falling over when your making them?
Sorry for all the questions but I figured someone here must know
Thanks in advance.
