Children and contact lenses?

Hi,

Does anyone have any experience of their children wearing contact lenses? I'm just wondering what age it's feasible for them to wear them and how your children managed etc. Any experiences would be great.

I wore them from about the age of 9 and had no problems. A child does need to be very responsible to wear them and be capable of dealing with any problems. It does partly depend on the lenses. Ones that need to be cleaned are obviously a bigger deal than ones that are disposable.

i started wearing lenses about 13/14. i wore the monthly disposable ones and had it drilled into me by the optition that if i didnt look after them proeprly they wouldnt give me any more and i would ruin my eyesight.

I think it depends on the child. The child has to demonstrate that s/he can fit and remove them and keep them clean before an optician will prescribe. I would say from about 8 upwards
