Bank has taken twice the monthly amount for the second time in three months

Hi All I have a payment plan set up on my TSB CC for £100 / month. On the 22nd May they took £200, This left me with bills that could not get payed on time and an un-arranged overdraft fee from my bank.On July 27 after numerous phone calls they returned £100 and are sending me a cheque for £100 (£50 to cover any charges and £50 for any inconvenience caused)On Aug 22nd they again took £200, what can I do, I am now overdrawn and with no money and they say it takes 7-10 working days to repay the money back.I am already at my wits end with money worries without the TSB compounding the problem..Any help or advice it truely welcome Thank you

  • ring your own bank, tell them that the Direct Debit was an incorrect amount, and under the Direct Debit guarrantee they will refund the money back into your acount within 24 hours.

Then all up your card company and give'm hell! (seriously - call them and double check how they have got your payments set up on their systems)

Thank you for that. I have phoned my bank (halifax)and they say that its not up to them to refund any money taken by TSB Credit Card Collections.
I have spoken to TSB CCC and they really have no idea what is going on, I have spoken to 3 differant customer service people and each one made up a different reason why the money was taken
I have insisted on receiving a phone call from a supervisor before 9pm tonight with a full explanation of what is going on and to have the money paid back into my account before 8am tomorrow morning....
1p bet that they will not phone

For a DD it is ABSOLUTELY, UNEQUIVOCALLY down to your bank to reclaim any payment that has been taken/sent incorrectly. This is the entire crux of the DD guarantee, to which Halifax and LLoyds subscribe (they have to, to be allowed to deal with DDs). Go back to Halifax and demand that the incorrect payment is immediately reclaimed!

    This might help:

if the originator or the bank/building society makes an error, the customer is guaranteed a full and immediate refund of the amount paid.
