Just made my first soup!

Options
And it was FABULOUS :j :j :j

It was a leek & potato using up the last of the christmas/new year veggies (rather than throw them, I thought I'd give soup a go!) and tasted absolutely wonderful.

It took less than an hour and there's plenty left over to take to work tomorrow for lunch - which will save me another £3 - and it can't have cost more than £1 for the whole lot
We may not have it all together, but together we have it all

    Well done you! :T :T :T

I've recently started making soup and did leek and potato myself - weird how they end up left in your fridge above anything else!

Keep it up, it's a very satisfying experience.
Wandered away from the MSE track for a while but am back and on a mission! Debts cleared nearly £18k. Now to start saving ...
  • I made my first soup for Christmas Day and like yourself i made potato and leek soup... It was awesome.... Made some the next day with a red onion in it and slightly more black pepper... Delicious... Have to blend it up though as the kids don't like the bits but still so much better than tinned..... :j :j

well done!:T i made soup yesterday, partly because i had a fridge full of wilting veg from xmas and partly because im suffering from an overdose of chocolate and good living and need to curtail the intake of food :o i love making soup, theres something very homely about stood in a kitchen making it...reminds me of my mum ;) i literally threw everything in mine including spring onions tomatoes garlic and ginger even a few potato peelings that oh was just about to throw away :j and it tasted delish :D i hope this is the start of many more soup making evenings for you, keep up the good work as soup is filling and so so cheap
proper prior planning prevents !!!!!! poor performance! :p
Only when the last tree has died and the last river been poisoned and the last fish been caught will we realise we cannot eat money

That was another thing - I love peppery soup so it was nice to be able to add it all when cooking.

I added a sploosh of milk before blending and it became sooooo smooth...

Next I think I'm going to try sweet potato and butternut squash (i.e. left over from when I do a roast tomorrow night!)

I love this o/s money saving lark! :rotfl:
