A brand new edgy drama series from the producers of Shameless – Skins – follows the lives and loves of a group of raucous friends. The nine-part series is currently being filmed in Bristol and will be broadcast on E4 from 25 January.

Starring Nicholas Hoult (About A Boy, Kidulthood ), Skins combines the writing talents of Simon Amstell (Never Mind The Buzzcocks), Josie Long (Best newcomer 2006, Edinburgh Comedy Festival), The Dawson brothers (Balls of Steel, Dirty Tricks), Jack Thorne (Shameless), and 20-something new writers, Ben Schiffer, Jamie Brittain and Camilla Blackett; with creator and executive producer Bryan Elsley (The Young Person’s Guide To Becoming a Rock Star, 40, The Crow Road).

Each weekly episode is a hilarious mixture of sweet, charming, heartbreaking and sometimes shocking stories about a group of troublesome 17 year olds. These kids really grab life by the balls and then give it a twirl.

There’s Tony (Nicholas Hoult), the best looking boy around, everything he touches turns to gold. His girlfriend Michelle (April Pearson), the most beautiful girl in town, obviously. Tony’s unconfident side-kick Sid (Mike Bailey); Cassie (Hannah Murray), the bonkers girl with issues; Chris (Joe Dempsie), a cheeky party animal; Jal (Larissa Wilson), a sassy, talented musician; Maxxie (Mitch Hewer), a real ‘Mr Sensitive’ and Anwar (Dev Patel), who coolly manages to combine his faith and still be part of the in-crowd.

All of them sunny, optimistic kids who drop pills, pass exams, have sex, undermine their parents….and push boundaries like only teenagers can.

What makes Skins so unique is that E4 are giving you the opportunity to contribute to the show. Young people have been integral to the creation of Skins. Are you interested in creating a music track for a scene of the show, style the cast for a fashion shoot, design a version of the Skins logo or make a short film based about the characters?

By joining the Skins Community you will also receive weekly freebies like music downloads, premiere tickets and much more!

To celebrate the launch of the programme, Digital Spy has teamed up with Channel 4 to give ONE lucky reader the chance to bag themselves a portable DVD player, a pair of tickets to the Skins premiere in London this month, a Skins t-shirt and a Shameless: Series 3 DVD. TWO runners up, meanwhile, will each receive a Skins t-shirt and a Shameless: Series 3 DVD.
