Moorcroft settlement offer

My son has racked up a bill with Orange last year of nearly 3K in texts to premium numbers plus the remainder of his contract. It was subsequently passed to Moorcroft as he had no way of paying this. I have tried to help him sort this mess out and he has been paying Moorcroft £60 a month in the meantime. Last month he wrote with a final offer of £1200 ( the debt is now around 2600) They have come back with a counter figure of 1900.00. I was told when I made the last installment that they would only discount 25% as that is all that Orange will accept, no negotitions. I am unsure now who this debt is actually being paid to as I thought Moorcroft bought debts from Orange. Just wondered if anyone thought we should persist in negotiation or just settle at 1900.

If £1900 isn't affordable, I'd go back with another offer.
However, before parting with any money double check any offers they make in writing to make sure they're saying "Full and final settlement of this debt" in the letter. Moorcroft have a reputation (whether it's deserved or not I can't say) of conveniently missing that wording off and coming back for the balance at a later date.0 -
Negociate!! i have just offered them £250 for a 3K debt. I have been paying them £20 a month for years. And i would def agree with, " be careful with wording" iv had a few run ins with their wording.
Good luckReading the stories and advice on here has given me the strength to see the light at the end of the tunnel, and that light will shine bright in......
