Is Tesco Air Miles conversion worth it?

I need to pay for a family of four to come over from the states in October. Now I normally use experian / travelocity to grab some good prices, but I was wondering whether it was worth "agressively" collecting Air Miles to pay for the flights.
No I know that Tesco > MFI is usually the done thing (until April
), and that Air Mile's costs for flights (when tallied up) are comparitively expensive but has anyone ever made the switch and got a good deal?
Failing that, I may just use the strong pound to buy the flights in the states and use my Egg Money card for the cashback!
