Hi guys just to be clear - not a medical advice request!! Had flu for thge past couple of days and OH is rubbish and I can't get hold of mum (she's probably at work). Can anyone help with easy OS comfort methods that I can either do/make myself (ie takes a few seconds) or OH can do (ie a monkey could do).

I hope your Oh not reading this after compairing his talents to that of a monkey.
I just love to curl up on the sette with a cup of hot lemon and sugar, blanket and hot water bottle and watch a soppy movie.
I'm sure he could warm a hot water bottle for you. Make you some soup or the like. He could definitely give you a big comforting hug.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

You need a hot water bottle to start. Get OH to draw the curtains. Lots of snuggly pillows. Books/magazines. Maybe a few of those Christmas choccies. A hot toddy - shot of whisky with hot water, squeeze of lemon juice and a little sugar to taste (optional). But the most important thing is a bell that you can use when you need him to fluff up those pillows. Get well soon. x0

My usual soothing toddy when ill is juice of a lemon, big dollop of honey, topped up with hot water. That's the "Day Nurse" version, then for the "Night Nurse" version (i.e. bedtime drink
) I do exactly the same but with a dram of whisky added.

Squeeze half a lemon into a mug, add a generous teaspoon of honey, and fill up with boiling water - stir and bring to sofa/bed - even I can manage that.
The lemon contains VitC which is supposed to help your immune system and lemon juice seems to stop your nose feeling so blocked up.Adventure before Dementia!0 -
Get a bowl of very warm water, put in a bit of eucalyptus or peppermint oil if you have it, don't worry if you haven't, get a big towel put it over your head and lean over bowl and inhale steam, helps to loosen up all the bunged up stuff. used to do an "inhalation" round on the ward when I was a young nurse, simple but relieves symptoms for a little while and helps to clear out nasty stuff. get well soon!0

Hot shower or bath works well too (lots of steam), makes you feel better for a short time anyway. Eating lots of garlic is suppossed to help too. Drink lots of lemon with hot water and/or herbal teas. Homemade chicken soup or stock is good too if you can be bothered to make it or have some in freezer..."The happiest of people don't necessarily have the

There are some ideas here which may help:

I am also all bunged up at the moment so have been looking for remedies, the ginger 'tea' looks quite promising:
Take ginger tea. Ginger tea is antiviral and helps break up the mucus and congestion. Ginger tea is excellent if the stomach is affected. To make the tea, boil 2 tablespoons of grated fresh ginger in 2 cups of water for 15 minutes, then remove from the heat and steep for 10 minutes. Take a cup as needed."The happiest of people don't necessarily have the
