in Cutting tax
Hi All
My tax code changed suddenly a couple of months back from 647L to 386L and as a result knocked £45 off my take home pay.
I can't seem to find any reason for this, I've not had a letter from the tax office about it and ringing the helpline results with the phone going dead every time which is pretty infuriating.
Anyone got any ideas of how I can find out the reason behind this?
Many thanks
J

Hi,
Either theres an underpayment of tax from a previous year in the code, or HMRC think you have 2 jobs (this is common) or your employer may have advised HMRC that you have a benefit in kind - (you should have received a P11d if this is the case), the best bet is to call them and find out once and for all.
Have sent you a PM.

Phone on the dot of first thing in the morning, for the best chance of getting through.0

What time is their 'first thing' though? I'm around from 7 most mornings.
Cheers
